Year 7 Leadership Day

The Bridge: an exercise in synergy.
Year 7 spent an action packed day learning about four of the 'Habits of Highly Effective People':

  • Be Proactive
  • Put first things first
  • Think win-win
  • Synergize
There was lots of focused discussion and many hands on activities, several involving food, which always goes down well!

'I can't see' ... 'I've lost the use of my arms' ...
...but together we can put our strengths together achieve
great things.

Our new work-space

Farewell to our desks, we're not looking too sad!
Comfy seats, flexible space, settled workers, happy teacher:-)
After the first afternoon our new environment got the thumbs up.

Make-over day

New Desks in Room 19

All empty, ready for the new look.

Forget about desks, in Room 19 we've got beanbags and cushions as desks with all colourful coffee tables; we've got jigsaw puzzles on the desks, we've also got splats, hearts, circles and stars and we also have new buckets!

Desks find new home.

J-Rock

Our class will be choreographing a dance to 'We didn't start the fire' by Billy Joel, for our J-Rock performance. Our message is that it is important to read to develop our minds, as this will help us on our road to success.

Each person in the class will take a person or an event from the song (we will just use the first 2 minutes of the song). We will read and view video clips to learn about this person or event. We will also dress up to look like this person. Our outfits need to be comfortable to dance in and represent our person or event. Everyone knows their role, please talk about a possible outfit at home, see what you can put together and come back to school with requests for anything you might need help obtaining.

After Easter we will be very busy putting our dance together and creating props (giant books).

Great Purple Participation!

A big thanks to all those who took part in Purple Cupcake Day today. A special thanks to Leni, whose enthusiasm and commitment helped to make it all happen. The Student Council raised $786  ... wow!! Find out more about what this money will achieve, visit Purple Cake Day.

Throw out the desks!

Miss D and Room 19 have decided to 'throw out the all the desks' and replace them with substitutes. Room 19 is looking forward to this! The three new ways are:
*A bean bag with a plank on your knees,
*A small coffee table or
*A trapezoid table.
Miss D and the class also need as much help as they can get! We need people who can donate fabric and sew.

We're trying out the coffee tables. They're getting very popular!
